PCA—At PCA, our new Porsche experiences of late have been primarily with the newest internal-combustion-engine sports cars, the 718 GTS twins (Boxster/Cayman), and the pure electric
Taycan. Lost in the shuffle have been the plug-in hybrids. That was remedied recently when we spent a week with the Cayenne E-Hybrid. On the whole, it was a positive experience, and the electrification is an indisputable value-add to the Cayenne S. The addition of the hybrid drive system adds 21 horsepower and a huge 110 pound-feet upgrade in torque over the Cayenne S.

| | Car and Driver—A lot of small SUVs hint at sportiness, but the 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo actually delivers. It's not merely sporty; it's
wicked quick. The handling isn't just performance oriented but sticky, like duct tape on bare skin. It's almost a shame to mention the Macan Turbo in the same breath as everyday compact crossovers such as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, even if in size the Macan is close to those workaday appliances.
|
Motor1—A spy shots provide a fresh look at the development of the hotter Porsche Cayenne Coupe, which might wear the GT moniker when it arrives. Both of the vehicles have a placeholder panel on
the rear bumper. The front end of these Cayenne Coupes look identical to the existing Turbo model. The front fascia includes six large inlets for feeding air to the engine.
| | |
| | Motor1—Porsche has made an impact with its Super Bowl Ad this year, showcasing its strength throughout its existence as a supercar maker. It even featured an eastern egg within the commercial,
in what we believe to be the 2021 911 GT3.
|
Carscoops—When it comes to used cars, there are multiple ways of looking at them. Some buyers want something that’ll cost cheap, run cheap and and get them comfortably and reliably from point A
to B, while others might not care all that much about running costs as long as the purchasing price is attractive enough.
| | |
| | Motor1—It may only be the “baby Cayenne,” but the Porsche Macan in Turbo guise does borrow the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 from its bigger brother.
That gives it an extra 10 percent power output over its predecessor even though the engine’s displacement has gone down by 20 percent compared to the old Macan Turbo. Now with a meaty 435 horsepower and 550 Newton-meters (354 pound-feet) of torque, the range-topping version of Porsche’s smaller crossover delivers top-notch performance as demonstrated in the adjacent video.
|
MotorBiscuit—Although the top-shelf trims are expensive, the Porsche Cayenne is more reliable and capable than many expect a luxury SUV would be. While the Range Rover may be popularly thought
of as the quintessential swank off-roader, the Porsche’s covered its fair share of mud and rocks. In fact, like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the Porsche Cayenne is a rally-winning SUV.
| | |
| | MotorTrend—The 2020 Porsche Taycan is quick—and fast. It beat even the mighty Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous in the quarter-mile after closing a tenth
of a second gap at 60 mph and never looking back. That's great for bragging rights, but all that accelerative force doesn't mean squat when you're sitting in traffic. That's when one's thoughts turn inward. Short question long, what's the interior of the Taycan, the place where you'll spend all your time, like to live in?

CarSales—It’s been 10 years since the first Porsche Panamera was released, with mixed reception. In 2009, people's distaste to the Porsche Panamera came down to the design. One, the idea of a
four-door full-sized Porsche sedan was one people didn't grapple; and two, it didn't look fast and sexy like the 911 – the peak of what Porsche 'is'. Fast forward to 2019, and the Porsche Panamera is no longer regarded or looked at with the same distaste. It’s sportier and more aggressive. It’s sleek and sexy.
| | |
| | Express and Star—For car enthusiasts, the Porsche name is synonymous with fantastic drivers’ cars. Darren Cassey finds out if the Macan
Turbo keeps this magic. While many car enthusiasts like to think of Porsche as purely a sports car maker, it’s easy to forget that the real meat of the firm’s sales actually come from SUVs, with the Macan being hugely popular among those who want the looks and practicality of a 4×4 but only for use on the school run. Today we’re testing the Turbo, which was a late addition to the facelifted Macan and sits at the very top of the range with more power and more equipment.
|
TFLCAR—If you’re in the market for an off-road rig, you’re painfully aware just how expensive new examples can be. Take our recent 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, for example. It’s definitely one of
the most capable off-roaders right off the lot, and its 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine makes it nothing short of indomitable when the going gets tough.
| | |
| | TheDrive—Even though Florida’s roads aim to suck every ounce of enthusiasm out of a spirited drive, I could barely contain the giddiness I felt to get back into the Taycan Turbo S and point its
nose toward the day’s destination, The Brumos Collection, a small automotive museum on the outskirts of Jacksonville and holding some of the rarest racing Porsches around. I couldn’t wait.
|
Autocar—The news out of Whitehall earlier this month seemed very much like the death sentence for the internal combustion engine that so many of us have been dreading, didn’t it? And with it
there also came a numbering of days for all sorts of vehicle that it’s hard to imagine being powered in any other way. Well, maybe not. Things can change, after all, and where government policy is concerned, they usually do. But if prime minister Johnson’s new car electrification plan for 2035, or perhaps 2032, sticks...
| | |
| | Carscoops—With a production run limited to just 600 units, this special edition Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia model is more than just any regular first-generation Cayenne. These SUVs were built
to celebrate the German carmaker’s triumphs in the Transsyberia Rally and feature off-road equipment such as front and rear skid plates, rock rails, an engine-bay guard and a locking rear differential.
|
| | San Diego Union-Tribune—The Macan SUV is Porsche’s top seller among its six nameplates, which now include the electric Taycan coupe. A close second is the midsize Cayenne SUV — which, with the
Macan, together total more than double the monthly sales of the sports cars (911 and 718) and the large Panamera sedan.
|
CNET—If you've been following the story of the 2020 Porsche Taycan EV, then you're no doubt familiar with its less-than-stellar EPA ratings. In its most efficient (for now) Taycan Turbo form,
Porsche's electric sports car is estimated to go 201 miles on a charge. Porsche firmly believes its EV can do better, and independent tests have proven as much. So I figured I'd give it a go, too -- albeit with a twist. I decided to take the $150,000 Taycan Turbo on a long route I know well: the dull-ass slog up California's I-5 freeway between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
| | |
| | Jalopnik—Today’s Nice Price or Crack Pipe Cayenne represents a car dismissed by some for the dilution it brought to the Porsche brand. There are others, however, who don’t mind its mad mix of
speed and sitting up high. Let’s see if this red rocket’s price is something about which we can all agree. Last Friday we looked at a 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that was so old school it probably kept an apple for the teacher in its trunk.
|
| | PCA—We may miss doing the March 'Meet Otis' column as Otis will be somewhere between Coldfoot Alaska and Seattle, Washington. This place-holder will have to do until our return. We have again
entered the ALCAN 5000 Time Speed Distance (TSD) rally having done this in 2016 when temps dropped to -36F.
